ZOOP
Developing the User Interface
Personalizing exercise routines to your level, time, and motivation
Doctor, Teacher, Writer says:
Doctor says: Most people have health exercise goals they want to achieve.
Teacher says: 30–50-year-olds who are busy with work and families tend to fail their health goals.
Writer says: Barriers to success include: low motivation, routines that are too hard or easy, and tight schedules.
ZOOP is an exercise scheduling web application. Busy, tech-savvy professionals who want to get back into exercise can use ZOOP to easily find a fun routine, at the perfect level, and at the right time for their personal calendar.

MedReady
Fulfilling the Design Thinking Process
Optimizing multiple medications into a simpler, safer schedule
Doctor, Teacher, Writer says:
Doctor says: Almost 1/3 of hospitalizations are caused by the drug interactions of medications.
Teacher says: Adults who are older than 60 and on 3+ medications often feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of taking their medications properly.
Writer says: There are simply too many things to know and remember when it comes to medications. Doctors cannot help with the entire management of one’s medications.
MedReady is a medication optimization web application. Older adults who are on multiple medications can prevent hospitalizations from drug-drug and food-drug interactions by using MedReady to create a safe, interaction-free medication schedule.

QuickWord
Rapid Prototyping and Iterative Design
Taking coffee breaks to another vocabulary level
Doctor, Teacher, Writer says:
Doctor says: Learning new vocabulary can cause frustration with a high drop-off.
Teacher says: People in their early- to mid-careers often have career development goals that involve learning a new language or new terminology.
Writer says: They stop learning when they feel they’re not improving during the small chunks of time they have to study, which increases frustration and lowers motivation.
QuickWord is a vocabulary learning mobile application. For on-the-go professionals who are determined to learn a new language or expand specific field terminology, QuickWord maximizes learning and retention in every coffee break.

A Nesting of Bracketed Bodies (Novel)
Writing the Iterative Novel
Iterating and securing funding for a fragmentary novel through precise writing
Doctor, Teacher, Writer says:
Doctor says: Many people start writing projects, some finish them, and a few edit to several drafts.
Teacher says: Writers who are self-taught and begin their writing careers later in life may not know where to direct their efforts or to seek guidance and support.
Writer says: Working on a novel takes not only time but money. Sustaining years of novel iterations also requires patience and confidence.
A Nesting of Bracketed Bodies is a novel that had its first draft in 2017, has survived 4 conceptual reworkings, and is now in its 8th iteration—an experience in learning how to describe one’s own work well to convince stakeholders to believe in it, too.

The 5-Painting Abolition Fundraiser
Developing and Executing an Idea
Storytelling with 5 paintings to raise $1000 for mutual aid in 2 weeks
Doctor, Teacher, Writer says:
Doctor says: Mutual aid is a great community-focused way to alleviate systemic inequities.
Teacher says: Mutual aid is not just for the unhoused but for the people living on the cusp of homelessness.
Writer says: Most people have yet to realize the existence and importance of mutual aid.
The 5-Painting Abolition Fundraiser was a non-didactic way to get people talking about and looking up mutual aid. This fun and personal project raised $1000 in redistributed wealth by sharing snippet stories on each painting to pique interest.

Self Love (Music Video)
Conceptualizing the Vision and Process
Managing a team with limited time and resources to fulfill the project vision and goals
Doctor, Teacher, Writer says:
Doctor says: Since making a music video costs money, resourcefulness and planning are incredibly useful tools.
Teacher says: Clearly establishing band brand through a music video is important.
Writer says: Our band had 48 hours to film all the shots for a 3-minute music video.
Self Love is Hunger Flower’s first music video, so careful crafting ensured that brand colours, style, mood, and movement were clearly captured on screen. The vision and concept for Self Love was conveyed to the team of students from the experiential learning partnership with MacEwan University. The music video got done.
